Home Healthcare Connection, Inc., a home health and hospice provider, has been acquired by Encompass Home Health, Inc., of Dallas, Texas, the former CEO announced in a news release.
?It?s a good company that acquired us and will continue, I think, with our positions in ethical conduct and business in serving patients, serving employees and the community with health care needs,? said Brian Powers, former CEO and president. ?We?re very pleased with the terms and we?re very pleased with having the opportunity to provide care for so many years and be in business for so many years. It?s been a privilege.?
Home Healthcare Connection was established in 1991 by Powers? father, the late Dr. Walter Powers. Home Healthcare Connection has its headquarters in Wichita, 8415 E. 32nd St. North. It will continue to operate locations in Derby and Hutchinson. The company also had a Parsons location that was closed. Powers said those employees were assisted in finding other employment, and patients were placed with other home health agencies for a ?fairly smooth transition.?
The company had about 170 full- and part-time employees who retained employment if they desired, Powers said.
Encompass has locations in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Oregon. It has more than 80 home care branches and 30 agencies with more than $200?million in annual revenues, according to its website.
This is the company?s first venture in Kansas, said Luke James, vice president of business development for Encompass.
Its financial partner is Cressey & Company, a private investment firm based in Chicago.
Powers and other former co-owner Clarice Powers do not plan to stay with the company and are retiring, Brian Powers said.
